GOLF HEALTH & FITNESS TIP from www.getfittogolf.com

Increase Your Overall Fitness To Improve Your Golf Game

To optimise your golf game you need to increase your overall fitness in order to improve your swing and your general well-being. Ways in which you can achieve this are the following:

  1. If you use a golf cart during a round of golf, try walking instead (as long as you are physically able to).
  2. If you own a dog, take the dog on a walk more often and make it a regular and scheduled activity.
  3. Try walking to work if it is not too far away or park your car further away from your destination so you are forced to walk a few extra minutes.
  4. You should increase physical activities (both aerobic and anaerobic). Some suggestions include swimming, aerobics classes at the gym, weight training, tai chi, jogging, yoga, tennis, dance classes etc. Whatever you might find interesting and also suitable to your abilities. You could try doing more chores around the home like cutting the lawn yourself if you normally don't. If you are not sure what activities would be suitable for you and any health problems or injuries you might have, consult your doctor or a fitness professional at your local gym / fitness centre.
  5. You need to follow a sensible diet. This may include reducing your fat intake and cutting down on sweets, fried food and take away food, and eating more fruit and vegetables. Quick weight loss diets are not highly recommended as they seem to only be a temporary fix and quite often are not very effective, especial in the long-term. You need to just substitute some types of foods you normally have with healthier alternatives. For example, cutting down on soft drinks (soda pop) and replacing with water, juices or milk. It is more beneficial to get into healthier eating habits that will help you loose weight gradually and then maintain your ideal weight on a long-term basis. These good habits can be beneficial to not just yourself but to your whole family. 6. If you combine your ChiroFit program which is specifically designed to improve your swing fault with a suitable aerobic and anaerobic exercise program, you are going to achieve greater improvement in your overall golf game and general health. Improved fitness will also help maintain your body and prevent possible injuries during your game.
  7. If you have prior injuries or have not exercised for some time it is advisable to get clearance from your treating medical practitioner or a physical therapist (i.e.. Chiropractor etc.).
  8. If you smoke you may find it beneficial to your health, fitness and general wellbeing to try to give up smoking.
